Responsibilities on the Job

  • Give animals food, water, enrichment, and other necessities on a daily basis.
  • Our same-day adoption method assists animals in finding new homes.
  • Make a commitment to a Approachable, sympathetic, and nonjudgmental attitude towards all clients, callers, and coworkers
  • Maintain clean animal housing by adhering to our strict cleaning recommendations.
  • New arrivals are welcomed through owner surrenders, stray admissions, transfers from other organisations, and end-of-life care.
  • Under the supervision of a veterinarian, administer medicinal treatments.
  • Using our animal management software, keep complete and precise records.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned Qualifications

Working some evenings, a weekend shift, and a rotating holiday

Must be able to carry 25lbs on a regular basis and up to 50lbs on occasion.

Prior animal care experience is preferred.

Duties Examples
Cleans all animal and bird cages, pens, yards, transport cages, exhibitions, aquaria, and incubators.
Animals and birds can be seen in the feeds and lakes. Picks up food and prepares carcasses for use as feed.
Animals are exercised and handled as needed for educational programmes.
Provides daily care to sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife, including medication administration.
Repairs and maintains the holding facility as well as the exhibition structure.
Oversees animal care volunteers and interns on-site, as well as cashiers and maintenance workers in the Observation Building.
Keeps animal husbandry records and paperwork.
Wildlife interpretation and education tours and programmes using live animals, taxidermy mounts and skins, slides, films, and other media are available.
Follows all policies, procedures, and the philosophy established by the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department of the City of Green Bay.
